Our Values

In pursuit of our mission we are guided by the following principles:

  • Healthy Communities.  We strive to create an environment in West Virginia where our residents can be supported in developing and maintaining positive health habits and lifestyles, especially preventive health strategies, to enable them to live healthy and productive lives.
  • Patient-Centered Health Care.   We strive to create a patient-centered health care delivery system in West Virginia that values the patient and their family as an integral part of the care team who collaborate with health care professionals in making health care decisions. Patient-centered care ensures that transitions between health care settings and professionals are respectful, coordinated and efficient.
  • Public/Private Partnerships.  We work with both the private and public sectors to create effective partnerships conducive to accomplishing our mission through our delivery of programs.
  • Quality Health Care.  We will advance measurable and continual progress of health care providers toward improving the safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency and equity of health care delivery throughout West Virginia.
  • Health Equality.  Through our work we will strive to ensure that all West Virginians have access to quality health care services and are supported in developing and maintaining positive health outcomes regardless of their race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
