Our Guiding Principles

In pursuit of our mission we are guided by the following principles:

  • Healthy Communities.  We strive to create an environment in West Virginia where our residents can be supported in developing and maintaining positive health habits and lifestyles that contribute to healthy and productive lives; and a healthy workforce.
  • Public/Private Partnerships.  We work with both private and public partners to create long-term relationships supportive of accomplishing our common goals.
  • Quality Health Care.  We support the measurable and continual progress of health care providers toward improving the safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency and equity of health care delivery throughout West Virginia.
  • Health Equity.  Through our work we strive to ensure that all West Virginians have access to quality health care services and are supported in developing and maintaining healthy lifestyes regardless of their race, geography, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
