Guiding Principles:  The following principles will guide the work of the Institute:

  • Results Focused.  Focus on evidence-based practices that will lead to long-term, meaningful health improvements in communities.

  • Build Local Capacity.  Build competencies, especially at the regional and local levels.

  • Sustainability.  Focus on sustainable solutions to local health challenges.

  • Board and Consortium Development.  Create the local infrastructure and leadership needed to support programs and build commitment among community partners and stakeholders.

  • Resources.  Provide access to best practices, tools, guides, and other resources.

  • Evaluation Independently evaluate both community and Institute impacts

  • Systems Focus.  Focus on systems changes that lead to sustainability of program impacts.

  • Relationship Building Work with community stakeholders and Institute Partners to develop effective collaborations to implement individualized solutions to each community’s unique challenges.
