Take Your Best Shot: WV Adolescent Immunization Project
The “Take Your Best Shot: WV Adolescent Immunization Project” (TYBS) was developed to address the problem associated with low vaccination rates among adolescents throughout West Virginia. It has been envisioned that TYBS will be strategically implemented statewide through development of local immunization collaboratives led by designated lead agencies in each county/region throughout the state.
Adolescent immunization rates for Tdap and meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccination have surpassed Healthy People 2020 goals; however, influenza and HPV vaccination rates are still lagging very far behind and a recommendation for meningococcal B vaccination has recently been added. Thus, TYBS projects will focus primarily on improving HPV, meningococcal B, and Influenza vaccination rates among adolescents. Currently, TYBS has been implemented in 42 counties throughout West Virginia. This grant cycle will provide an opportunity for up to 7 additional counties to be included in TYBS in their effort to improve HPV, meningococcal B, and Influenza vaccination rates among adolescents.
The Request for Applications and grant application (for New Projects or for Continuation Projects) for the 2017-2018 WV Adolescent Immunization Project are now available. The deadline to apply is September 29, 2017.
